This high-end gaming PC is cheaper than the RTX 4090

Here you go, new graphics cards are here. This makes us worry about investing a lot of money in a gaming PC. However, the specs and price of the Alienware Aurora R10 will ensure that you won't be plagued with buyer's remorse after your purchase.

For $1,400 (open in new tab), you're looking at a machine capable of 4K gaming at the highest settings. This is mainly thanks to the onboard Radeon RX 6800 XT (opens in new tab). This is AMD's best graphics card of this generation, and it performs surprisingly close to Nvidia's RTX 3080 (opens in new tab) in many games.

With a few exceptions, we can say that the RX 6800 XT is not as powerful in ray tracing, but that aside, this is certainly a worthy option, and given that the RTX 3080's price has not yet dropped to its original MSRP of $1,400 price point will have to be endured to make it viable.

Alienware has paired this with a Ryzen 7 5800, an 8-core, 16-thread CPU capable of reaching 4.6 GHz at Max Boost and keeping the GPU absolutely busy. It will also handle more mundane tasks with ease; AMD just released its new Zen 4 chip, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with this processor, especially when it comes to gaming.

Other specs are also sound, with 16GB of DDR4-3466, a 1TB NVMe SSD, and a 1TB hard drive for a huge game library. The only downside to this build is that the RAM is a single 16GB stick, which does not allow for the full benefit of the dual-channel memory controller. In other words, it does not get the full benefit of the dual-channel memory controller. Ideally, one would add one more stick to get the true performance of this system.

Overall, this is a lot of gaming machine for the price. It's cheaper than the RTX 4090 (open in new tab), which costs at least $1,599, and can still hit great frame rates at 4K.
