Rapper T-Pain takes aim at gamers harassing developers: "Fuckin' chill. This is a fucking game.

Grammy-winning rapper and Apex Legends streamer (opens in new tab) T-Pain shared a message (opens in new tab) urging gamers to exercise restraint and self-reflection in response to Respawn's statement (opens in new tab) regarding harassment experienced by the developer.

"Bro, y'all have to chill out. This is a fucking game.

T-Pain continued, "If you hate it so much, play something else. If you're so into the game that you feel the need to threaten the people who work so hard to make it, walk away from the PC/console. Chill the hell out."

Exactly. The anger of gamers is disgraceful. There are few things in this life more second-hand and embarrassing than watching adults throw a tantrum on a Twitch stream. To get so riled up over your own beep-boop game that you get in trouble with others for it at work is truly a self-inflicted humiliation.

The "touch the grass" tidbit is thrown around so much that it loses its meaning, but it is a useful starting point for changing one's perspective. One thing that can help you to suppress your own feelings about weird stuff on the Internet is to try to verbally describe it to someone who doesn't know it at all, and realize how completely crazy it sounds.

Imagine if you were to explain to a loving relative or a high school classmate with a family to explain why you sent a picture of the game developer's house in response to a rebalancing of your favorite shotgun.

Not to encourage developer harassment, prolific streamer Tyler "Ninja" Blevins offered a philosophy (open in new tab) about gamer rage that will counter T-Pain's Zen in 2020.

"The term 'mere games' is a very weak concept." Blevins wrote. 'Losing, the imperfection of the technique. If you lose and stop being angry, you have lost twice."

"There is always something to learn, always room for improvement, and never settle."

"When you lose at Apex, as Ninja advocated, should you get really mad and bang your desk and scare the cat, or should you just stay level-headed, as T-Pain suggested? I know whose side I'm on in this debate.
