Movie "Borderlands" Reveals Cheesy Synopsis

Some may think that the Eli Roth-directed film "Borderlands" is just a fever dream. After much speculation about the casting of the film, it has now been announced that Edgar Ramirez, known for his roles in the films "Zero Dark Thirty" and "Hands of Stone," will play the role of Atlas, a weapons manufacturer. In addition to this, more ironclad evidence was brought to light in the form of a plot synopsis, indicating that the project is realistic.

The press release announcing the casting of Ramirez includes a synopsis of the film's events (thanks, ComicBook). Basically, Atlas hires Lilith (Cate Blanchett) to find his missing daughter, and all sorts of gun-related hijinks ensue:

"Lilith (Blanchett), a notorious outlaw with a mysterious past, is the most powerful S.O.B. in the universe. Lilith reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to search for the daughter of Atlas (Ramirez), the most powerful S.O.B. in the universe. Lilith forms an alliance with an unlikely team. Roland (Kevin Hart), a former elite mercenary now desperate for redemption; Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), a preteen wild child demolitionist; Krieg (Florian Munteanu), Tina's muscle-bound, rhetorically challenged guardian; Tanis ( Jamie Lee Curtis), and Claptrap (Jack Black), a persistent and devious robot.

"Persistently clever robot" is a phrase that might seem like it would hurt ticket sales, but as the success of the "Borderlands" series shows, taste is a guessing game. But as the success of the "Borderlands" franchise shows, good taste is irrelevant. Seriously, there is no denying that Ross has assembled a stellar cast.

The synopsis concludes: "To find and protect a missing girl who may hold the key to unimaginable power, they must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits. The fate of the universe is in their hands, but they will fight for more than that, they will fight for each other.

You don't need to watch it now. The film is currently in production in Hungary, with no release date set.
