Age of Empires developer says he hasn't forgotten Age of Mythology

In anticipation of Saturday's Age of Empires fan event, Microsoft organized a roundtable interview with developers from Xbox Game Studios and Relic Entertainment's Age of Empires series. While most of the interview focused on the upcoming Age of Empires 4, the topic of another game, Age of Mythology, which was released in 2002, also came up. One person asked if "Mythology" would receive the same Definitive Edition treatment given to all three "Age of Empires" games.

"I've said it before and I'll say it again: I haven't forgotten about Age of Mythology. I'm not going to forget Age of Mythology," said Adam Isgreen, franchise creative director, "and I'm not going to forget about it.

Microsoft re-released Age of Mythology on Steam in 2014 and released an expansion, Tale of the Dragon, in 2016. While this handles better than many 90s and 2000s strategy games, it has not received the same love that Microsoft has poured into the main Age series over the past five years.

While Isgreen did not promise a sequel or new expansion, the enthusiastic response from developers suggests that a new Age of Mythology is not out of the realm of possibility. Thanks to its popularity on Steam, Microsoft is still releasing expansions for its Age of Empires series.

"Stay tuned. We haven't forgotten."[9 I love Age of Mythology. I love mythology in general. I love this franchise. We are not pretending that mythology didn't exist. We know it." [Senior Executive Producer Michael Mann added, "We're not going to stop. 'We're listening. We are listening 100% to that request."
