Every new entry in the "Resident Evil" series gets people excited, but the avalanche of memes surrounding Lady Dimitrescu in "Resident Evil: The Village" was different. She's been the center of attention for the past few months, and Capcom recently branched out to show off a world map and new characters.

IGN was able to get a peek at the map, which shows the location of Dimitrescu Castle in the north (the setting of the PS5 demo and home to a tall vampire woman). Heisenberg's Factory, Benevient's House, Morceau's Cistern, and several other interesting locations are scattered below. There is a large sea monster at the bottom of the map, and what appears to be a dragon or other large flying creature near Dimitrescu Castle.

Also shown for the first time is Mother Miranda, who plays an important role in the village, although Capcom has not revealed any details. The newly released screenshots show a portrait of Mother Miranda, who appears to be a religious icon or deity. Game director Morimasa Sato told IGN that "Mother Miranda and the inner life of her character are very important elements in the game."

Resident Evil Village will be available on May 7, and anyone with a PS5 can try out a playable demo; in addition to PC, the game will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Stadia.
