New season of "Team Fight Tactics" introduces experimental 15-minute mode

Teamfight Tactics will introduce an experimental new game mode that puts you on a bathroom break, thanks to a new feature for next season, Labs.

Riot teased the introduction of a "simpler, faster" game mode earlier this year, hinting at a version of TFT that could be played in under 20 minutes; with the release of TFT's "Reckoning" set, the developer is testing a new game type, the new "Labs" feature As part of this, a greatly streamlined new mode, "Hyper Roll," was introduced.

Starting with a paltry 10 health, Hyper Roll is down 1hp for each loss (later increasing to 2hp). Gold interest was removed and significant changes were made to drops, leveling, and neutral minion rounds. In short, the game seems very appealing to people like me who found Autobattler to be no shorter than a round of MOBAs and walked away from Autobattler.

Reckoning has made some major changes to the regular TFT. A new season means new classes, and Reckoning's lineup includes Forgotten, Hellion, Nightbringer, Cavalier, Ironclad, Revenant, and Dawnbringer. The big new feature, however, is shadow items. Shadow items are modifications of existing items that promise more power in return.

The shadow components used to create these items will begin to appear on the carousel after round 1. This store, like the existing Champion Shop, will allow the direct purchase of parts for a limited number of items.

Finally, this season's Reckoning Pass will feature a new cosmetic boom, a small legend, and an arena; Reckoning will begin on April 28, and the new set will be available on the game's test server later this week.
