FBI Arrests Texas Man Who Tried to Blow Up "Internet" with C-4

Seth Aaron Pendley of Texas was arrested by the FBI for conspiring to blow up the Internet and appeared in court this weekend. *Check the memo. Pendry's plan was flagged on the encrypted communications service Signal, where he began outlining his plan to "kill about 70 percent of the Internet" under the username "Dionysus" (the dual nature of fertility and wine in Greek mythology and patron god of the arts) .

According to a statement from the U.S. Department of Justice, when asked by one user what outcome he wanted, Pendry replied, "Death."

Users who came forward to alert authorities ended up working with the FBI to refer suspects to undercover agents, April 8, Fort Worth, Texas. According to Conan Daily's sources, the FBI agent met with the perpetrator posing as an arms dealer and even taught him how to arm and detonate the C-4 plastic explosives he had just bought.

The moment Pendry loaded it into his car, he was arrested and reportedly confessed on the spot.

Pendry faces up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted.
