Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin now have assets of more than $100 billion each

2021 has been a pretty crappy year so far for most people, but not for Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index (via The Guardian) each "earned" more than $20 billion this year.

Bloomberg estimates that there are eight men in the world with a net worth of at least $100 billion, and Page and Brin are actually far from the top.

Anyway, here's the list:

All but two are members of the tech industry. The exceptions are Bernard Arnault, Chairman and CEO of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, and Warren Buffett, Chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, another tech giant, could be next to join the club.

Page and Brin stepped down as CEO and president of Google's parent company, Alphabet, in December 2019, but retain ultimate control of the company as major shareholders. Alphabet itself has also risen significantly in value since the beginning of this year, from just over $1,700 per share at the beginning of January to $2,244 per share now.
