BioShock 4" Job Postings, confirming open world and side quests?

Cloud Chamber, the 2K Games studio tasked with developing a new BioShock game, has posted several new development positions on its website. The job descriptions seem to confirm at least two things about this long-running project.

The description of the Senior Writer role is the most suggestive and seems to confirm both an open world and quest format." We are hoping to find someone who can weave impactful, character-driven stories in an open-world setting." It goes on to state that the successful candidate will then "brainstorm primary and secondary mission content along with design."

Other roles where Unreal Engine 4 experience is "strongly desired" emphasize that BioShock is a "living" world. This is a buzzword that is usually ignored, but it seems to involve more than the usual random NPC encounters, and senior world designers are expected to "design and create systemic world moments and custom-made quests that bring the game to life."

The AI programmer role has some interesting information: its candidate will "create a vision for a meaningful AI urban crowd system" and "help push the boundaries of what is possible in an interactive crowd system."

Of course, whatever Cloud Chamber is currently cooking could change dramatically during development, and given the nature of these roles, development does not appear to be close to release yet. This is because even though the previous "BioShock" was released in 2013, another 2K studio's planned sequel was canceled in 2016.
