MSI Fixes AMD USB Issues in Latest X570 and B550 Motherboard Update

MSI has released BIOS updates for X570 and B550 motherboards that address intermittent USB issues affecting Ryzen 5000 users. This new firmware implements the AGESA 1.2.0.2 update that AMD released to manufacturers over a month ago, and while these BIOS updates are still officially in beta, there have been many positive reports so far.

Not everyone is having USB issues with AMD's Zen 3 chip, but many users are experiencing disconnects from external DACs, cameras, external drives, etc.

A stopgap proposal from AMD was to drop PCI Express connections from 4.0 to 3.0 until a patch is released, which was particularly annoying to those using the next generation NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSDs. This patch should provide a longer-term solution.

MSI has been releasing updates for motherboards since April 8, currently covering 21 motherboards: five X570s and 16 B550s, with the necessary fixes to address the USB issue. The update should read: "Update to ComboAM4PIV2 1.2.0.2.
