Nier: automata finally fixed on Steam

More than four years after its release, Square Enix is finally sorting out the crummy PC port of Nier: Automata. This incredibly vague announcement was made on Nier's Twitter account, which says that an upgrade patch is "currently in development."

The game has been in pretty shambles on PC since its release in 2017, with poor ultrawide support, awkward keyboard and mouse controls, locked frame rates, and stuttering and crashing issues.

No major updates were released other than a small patch that fixed some initial issues with AMD cards, but eventually a mod appeared that fixed the problems. It is incredibly disappointing that there is no official fix for this game, even though it is amazing and our favorite action game of 2017.

Recently, the Steam port came under fire again, as the Xbox Game Pass for PC version appeared to have fixed many of the issues, but a Digital Foundry video later revealed that the port was still pretty broken. Nevertheless, this did not stop people from review-bombing the game on Steam and demanding an equivalent version to what Xbox offers.

At least now there is light at the end of the long tunnel. No word yet on when the patch will be released, but it would be nice to see Square finally pull their fingers out and fix the ported version.
