Crusader Kings 3 fixes same-sex relationship mod, will support marriage in the future

Last month, an update to "Crusader Kings 3" accidentally broke a popular loophole used to allow same-sex concubine mods. Now Paradox aims to fix it with a major mod update and will support proper same-sex concubine mods in a later update.

In a recent development journal, Paradox detailed an overhaul of many mods coming in a future 1.3.X patch (the studio is not ready to give an exact version number) There is a good list of technical changes that modders might be interested in, but of particular interest, changes in the way the game supports potential queer-related mods.

While fixing issues related to concubinage, Paradox unintentionally made same-sex concubine mods impossible; given that CK3 does not allow full same-sex marriage, adding a queen was a compromise made by some players to bring a queer element to CK3 play. It was.

"Prior to 1.3, same-sex concubines were unintentionally modifiable, but could cause various errors," Paradox explains. In 1.3, we explicitly restricted this in the code as part of our concubine-related bug fixes. Since then, we have made changes to properly support same-sex concubines, which are provided in 1.3.X along with other mod improvements."

There is even more good news. The work required to ensure that these radical changes do not break the game goes far beyond the planned 1.3.X update.
