Diablo 2: Resurrected players used old mods to access hidden classes

Last weekend's alpha version of "Diablo 2: Resurrected" may have ostensibly limited players to three classes. However, it appears that cunning modders were able to use a trick from years ago to gain access to other classes in the dungeon crawler's lineup.

As discovered by PCGamesN, players soon realized that much of Resurrected's base code was shared with the 2000 original. This meant that it was not too difficult to obtain the old Hero Editor mod and replace classes that Blizzard had no intention of releasing.

Videos were quickly posted on the Diablo 2 subreddit showing these hidden classes, including paladins, druids, and necromancers. Keep in mind that these classes are even more "unfinished" since they were not included in the public alpha.

Resurrected is intentionally faithful to the code of the original game, so that save files from 20 years ago will work in the remaster. Given that the alpha version is limited, it would not be surprising to see something a bit more fixed in later technical testing.

Tyler played Resurrected ahead of the weekend's testing and found it to be a lovely (if inconsistent) game that remains largely faithful to the original while also highlighting how far the genre has come in 20 years. diablo 2: Resurrected will be released by the end of the year, and Blizzard plans to run a technical multiplayer alpha and final beta prior to release.
