Cyberpunk 2077" data miner finds unused quest files

A Cyberpunk 2077 data creator has discovered a new file referencing an unreleased street story quest.

According to Eurogamer, modder romulus_is_here said the file appeared after the massive 1.2 patch. Cyberpunk main quests are usually divided into three parts: prologue, part 1, and epilogue, numbered from q000 to q204. However, there are now several quests numbered q301, which are outside the normal range.

According to Romulus_is_here, this quest, named 'story-ep1' in the file, may refer to the game's "very first major story-based DLC."

About five files related to 'ep1' have been in existence since launch existed in the game, but since the 1.2 patch, 220 files have now been found.

Not all of the files seem to be fully fleshed out yet, some just contain placeholder text. However, there are references to new characters, primarily a quest character called Wagner and a character called Anthony Anderson. A new group called the Cruz Militia is also mentioned in a quest involving a hostage situation.

If this is for the upcoming DLC, romulus_is_here stated that he believes "the majority of the story as introduced in Episode 1 will center around Pacifica." Looking at the files, that makes sense. The new location, Newcomer's Haven, will offer a quest by Pacifica's fixer, Mr. Hands.

Of course, until we hear an announcement from CD Projekt Red, it is all speculation. It will probably take a while too. Patch 1.2 was massive, fixing nearly 500 bugs on the PC version, but there is still work to be done. Street Stories could be delivered as part of the previously announced free DLC, but given its size, it may be a paid expansion.

CDPR released a cyberpunk fix earlier this week.
