Keep your data safe and your phone charged with a $120 external 8TB drive

Do you back up your data regularly? This is one of those things that everyone knows they should do, but regrets not having a regular routine when disaster strikes. But you don't have to. At Costco, you can get an 8TB Seagate Backup Plus Hub for only $120.

This is a $50 savings over the regular price and $100 less than the price listed as MSRP on Seagate's website. You must be a Costco member to get the discount, but you don't have to be a member to save. There is a 5% surcharge for non-members, for a total of $8.50.

You can schedule regular backups on this external drive using Seagate's proprietary software. Alternatively, if you trust your data to be backed up manually, you can connect and use it just like any other USB storage device without the software (connects via USB 3.0 and delivers up to 160 MB/s).

As the name implies, the external HDD also functions as a USB hub, with two USB 3.0 ports on the front. Each outputs up to 1.5 amps/5 volts, so you can connect and keep your smartphone, tablet, camera, etc. charged when it's more convenient than dangling a cable from your PC.
