The refreshed GPUs could bring cryptocurrency mining restrictions to the entire Nvidia RTX 30 series.

Following rumors of Nvidia's revitalization attempt to limit ethereum mining on the RTX 3060 12GB, further speculation suggests that more Ampere GPU variants are on the way to spoil cryptocurrency miners' fun.

Those keeping track of the ordeal know that Nvidia is pulling out all the stops to keep cryptocurrency miners away from gaming GPUs. Not only has the company been preparing mining-specific CMP cards to divert demand away from its valuable gaming cards, but the mining limiter first found on the RTX 3060 is another potential solution that Nvidia has been exploring.

These limiters were short-lived because Nvidia's 470.05 development version driver inadvertently allowed crypto miners to bypass the limiters. Rumor has it that to counter this, the limiting technology may be revived through the new GA106-302 GPU to hit RTX 3060. This would replace the GA106-300-A1 GPU in the new model. [Kopite7kimi, a well-known Twitter leaker, has suggested that the rest of the 30-series GPU lineup could also see such an updated model.

The tweet indicates a possible update to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 by mentioning GA102-302/202. [If the claim has any weight to it, we may see cryptocurrency miners floundering with their tails between their legs.
