Nia" Livestream Confirms "Additional Content" for "Nia Replicant" and Yoko Otaro's New Work

Nier Replicant ver. 1.22474487139 is ostensibly a remake of the cult JRPG released in 2010, but Western fans are understandably a bit confused. Basically, there were two versions of Nier in Japan: the Western-released "Gestalt" featured an older, fatter Nier with a daughter named Yona. The "Replicant" that remained in Japan featured a young, spry Nia with a younger sister named Yona.

Anyway, this crash course is vaguely important. Because overnight, it was confirmed that anyone who wants to play an older, burly Nia in the upcoming "Replicant" remake can do so. The news was announced during a lengthy marketing live stream in Japanese, which also confirmed a host of "additional content" that will be added to the game at launch.

These include a pack called "15 Nightmares," which includes the aforementioned gestalt version of Nia, as well as challenge dungeons and samurai and kabuki costumes. There is also a crossover pack with "Nier Automata" that replaces some of the 2B and A2 costumes for Kaine, the Virtus Treaty sword, and the Replicant soundtrack with those from "Automata". Trailers for all of these can be checked out below.

On a related note, the same livestream confirmed that Taro Yokoo, creator of "Nier" and "Drakengard," is working on a new game at Square Enix; as reported by Gematsu, Taro described the game as "a bit different." He described it as "something strange that I don't know how to explain or how to sell," and went on to say, "I created something strange that I don't know how to explain or how to sell.

"Nier Replicant" will be released this week, April 23 to be exact. If you need it, here are the system requirements. Also see the "extra content" trailer below.
