Call of Duty: Warzone" has surpassed 100 million players.

A little over a year after its release on March 20, 2020, Call of Duty: Warzone has reached another major milestone: Activision announced today that the epic battle royale has surpassed 100 million total players.

The numbers piled up quickly: Warzone surpassed 15 million players in less than a week of service and 30 million in just 10 days; the 50 million mark was reached in April 2020, just a few months after its release; in August, it reached 70,. In August, the number of players reached 75 million, and in December, 85 million. Obviously, the free-to-play base makes Warzone easily accessible, but it takes more than non-existent pricing to sustain this kind of growth for more than a year.

Incidentally, Apex Legends has been reasonably successful in the battle royale business and is one of EA's biggest earners, but it took them roughly twice as long to achieve the same record. Oddly enough, it surpassed 100 million players last week.

While this is an undeniably impressive achievement, Infinity Ward and Raven are not holding back. The much-anticipated nuke event, which is expected to introduce a new version of Verdanisk, will take place tomorrow, April 21, and there is a new zombie issue that Morgan is quite enjoying, but perhaps a big explosion will put an end to that as well. Of course, there are some rough edges, such as the invisibility glitch that just won't go away and the recent Most Wanted deal that turned players into unkillable gods.
