New patches for Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale fix bugs, add BroShep

Last year, Beamdog announced plans to update the enhanced editions of the classic RPGs "Baldur's Gate," "Baldur's Gate 2" and "Icewind Dale" on Steam. The patch has been applied to all three games. Version 2.6 provides a 64-bit executable, improves stability, fixes hundreds of bugs, improves pathfinding, adds player character portraits and voice options, and adds several text localizations.

Multiplayer bugs, such as area names not displaying correctly, characters not importing properly, and imported characters' familia stats not loading properly, along with overall improvements in multiplayer stability, Fixed in all three. The list of individual fixes for each game is as long as a talusk, as well as fixes for spell visuals, abilities, and achievements. Each game also shares 11 new portraits for player characters and seven new voice sets, including two by Mass Effect's Mark Meer. Enhanced Edition) and Alveus Malcanter (the world's longest lived 1st level wizard and the man behind the Icewind Dale survival videos on YouTube) once again.

Beamdog notes that some quirks still remain, such as the Haste spell's increased speed and damage not showing up in the battle log even though it actually works, and problems with the OpenAL audio interface: "If the game fails to start If so, try reinstalling OpenAL. The installer "oalinst.exe" is located in the root of the game installation folder.

Meanwhile, Larian Studios' "Baldur's Gate 3" series continues its Early Access journey, and the developer does not seem to be in a hurry.
