Ace Attorney's prequel featuring Victorian-era "Harlock Shomes" is now available on PC

Capcom announced that this year, the 20th anniversary of the Ace Attorney series, will mark the first time that "Dai Ace Attorney," "Dai Ace Attorney 2 - Narihodo Ryunosuke no Fukuhaku-" and "Dai Ace Attorney 2 - Narihodo Ryunosuke no Fukuhaku-" will be released in English: Dai Ace Attorney 2 - Narihodo Ryunosuke no Fukuhaku-" and "Dai Ace Attorney 2 - Narihodo Ryunosuke no (冒險-) will be released as English versions for the first time. They will be bundled together as "The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles," confirming a leak earlier in the year that these two games were rated in Taiwan.

These prequels will feature Ryunosuke Narihodo, Phoenix Wright's 19th-century ancestor, who travels between Meiji-era Japan and Victorian-era England, solving mysteries and protecting innocents like his descendants. However, Ryunosuke does so with the help of a famous London detective, known in this translation as "Harlock Shomes," and his companion, Iris Wilson (in the original, her last name was "Watson").

The investigative scenes between trials introduce a new system in which Shooms makes deductions while the player points out inconsistencies and finds clues that point the goggle-hatted detective in the right direction. Another change in these prequels is the introduction of a jury in the trial, where individual jurors must jump to conclusions and object in the traditional "Phoenix Wright"-style manner.

The "Great Lawyer Row" includes mysteries such as "The Case of the Visiting Professor" and "The Case of the Distressed Steamboat," spread over 10 episodes and 8 mini-escapes, which apparently amount to over 50 hours worth of dilemmas and mysteries. New to the series is an automatic story mode, which allows players who are not interested in puzzles to enjoy the story as a pure visual novel.

Players can choose between Japanese or English audio. Special features include additional costumes, creator comments, and bonus videos.

Dai Ace Attorney will be released on Steam on July 27. Capcom will also release a bundle called Ace Attorney Turnabout Collection, which includes these prequels and the complete Ace Attorney: Ace Attorney trilogy on PC in 2019.
