The map of "Call of Duty: Warzone" was nuked.

General
The map of "Call of Duty: Warzone" was nuked.

Call of Duty Warzone's highly anticipated nuclear event has begun, with the "Destruction of Verdansk" event kicking off today at 12 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) with a massive 100-player survival mode pitting player-controlled zombies against each other. The event will climax with a dramatic cutscene depicting the nuclear destruction of Verdansk, and many frustrated players are currently staring at the server queue to see it for themselves.

As of this writing, there is an estimated 20-minute wait to enter the game, but this number has not moved since noon.

And even if you do get in, the game will likely crash. In a recent tweet, developer Raven Software said it is aware of the server issue with Destruction of Verdansk and is working on a fix. The crashes should become less frequent once the playlist update is delivered and people join the game, but it remains to be seen when we, who are stuck in the queue, will be able to witness this event.

This is a bit of a problem given that the event will only last until 2:00 PM Pacific Time. As it stands, Activision will either have to reopen this mode at a later date for those who were unable to attend, or watch the stream. Speaking of which, CharlieIntel completed this mode and shared some of the final nuke cutscenes.

Our friends at GamesRadar managed to get into the event successfully after the initial snafu.

This is only part one of the destruction of Verdansk, so there will probably be more to come tonight and tomorrow before we finally get to see the rumored new map.
