Battlefield 6 will be "more crowded with players" than ever before, full details coming soon.

It has long been known that "Battlefield 6," or whatever its final name may be, will be released this holiday season (October 1-December 31) and will feature technological advancements that will "bring to life a true next-generation vision of the franchise." . Today's new preview does not say much more than that, but promises an official announcement in the near future.

For the new game, EA has enlisted Stockholm-based DICE and its DICE LA division, Criterion, EA Gothenburg, and Industrial Toys, which is working on another Battlefield game for mobile, due out in 2022. Oskar Gabrielson, general manager of DICE, said the company has assembled "the largest Battlefield development team ever.

"We're playtesting every day right now. We're refining, balancing, and making the best 'Battlefield' game we can," Gabrielson wrote.

"It's a bold step, I'd say. It has everything we love about 'Battlefield' and takes it all to the next level. Epic scale. All-out military warfare. Crazy, unexpected moments. Game-changing destruction. Massive battles packed with more players and mayhem than ever before. All of this comes to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs. [CEO Andrew Wilson excitedly promised in February 2021 that the game would be both "unprecedented in scale" and "unprecedented in scale. Nevertheless, this will be the first game in the series to utilize the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles, and EA is previewing the great technical capabilities of this new game.

The statement "more players and mayhem than ever before" may also be telling. Previous "Battlefield" games (since "BF1942," I'm told) have been capped at 64 players, which isn't much of a gaming population these days: for example, "Fortnite" supports 100 players per match and "Call of Duty: Warzone" supports 150! The number of players in "Fortnite", for example, is limited to 64 players per match. For example, "Fortnite" supports 100 players per match, and "Call Duty: Warzone" supports 150. Given the previous references to increased "scale," it would not be at all surprising to see "Battlefield" increase its capacity to something comparable in the new game.

Whatever EA may have in mind, it demonstrated its commitment to the "Battlefield" series earlier this year by delaying the new "Need for Speed" game until next year, allowing Criterion to join the effort.

Gabrielson said that EA "has a lot to show you in the next few months," probably starting in mid-June during this year's all-digital E32, which runs from June 12-15. But we may get a glimpse of it sooner than that: EA's next quarterly earnings call will be held on May 11.
