Elite Dangerous Odyssey to land and disembark May 19

Odyssey is the long-awaited "ground combat" expansion for Elite Dangerous. No longer is it just about trucking around in space or roaming the planet in a vehicle. And when it comes to video games with legs, it's about shooting weapons. If Elite Dangerous with legs doesn't appeal to you, Odyssey expands the galaxy as well.

It's all very exciting stuff, and for those looking for a change of pace, it's going to change the pace of gaming dramatically. After a series of testing and pandemic delays, Elite Dangerous Odyssey will officially release for PC on May 19 after a final testing phase.

"The feedback we received from everyone during the alpha was invaluable and made this release date possible," Frontier wrote." We will continue to gather your feedback throughout the upcoming Alpha Phase 4 and beyond the launch as we work on further improvements and content updates."

Andy Kelly played "Odyssey" and felt a bit conflicted about the addition of NPCs. He wrote in his preview, "It doesn't feel like a bustling starport, more like the 3D chat rooms that were popular in the early 2000s." Natalie, on the other hand, is not happy with the expansion's "delightfully crappy" cab service. Not the most ringing endorsement, but I'm looking forward to jumping in on May 19.
