AMD's record-breaking GPU will be mounted on Sapphire's Toxic RX 6900 XT.

Last week, Der8auer set a new GPU world record with the PowerColor RX 6900 XT Liquid Devil. However, this was not a regular Radeon RX 6900 XT, but a specially binned version of the 6900 XT Navi 21 chip, known as the Navi 21 XTXH. This time, Sapphire, like PowerColor, used the Navi 21 XTXH chip in the RX 6900 XT Toxic Extreme Edition.

Like PowerColor's card, Sapphire's new card is aimed at the more extreme end of the market, which is hardly surprising given that the Radeon RX 6900 XT is completely useless for regular gaming anyway.

Sapphire's new Toxic AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Extreme Edition uses a hybrid cooling solution, with fans on the card itself to cool the memory and power circuitry, and a triple fan/ The card is equipped with a triple-fan radiator to cool the GPU itself.

The card certainly looks tasty, and with Sapphire's one-click Toxic Boost, 2,730 MHz can be achieved. The normal gaming boost clock of 2,500 MHz is not too shabby either.

However, it will not surprise you to learn that this is considerably slower than what Der8auer has achieved with a PowerColor card and liquid nitrogen. on his youtube channel, Der8auer has successfully brought his PowerColor RX 6900 XT Liquid Devil to 3, 225 MHz, which may be a new world record.

This overclocker champion believes that 3.5 GHz may also be possible on the Navi 21 XTXH.

While this is clearly not the right time to actually try to buy a new graphics card, it is good to see AMD still pushing the envelope. It is no mean feat to produce a chip that can achieve these kinds of clock speeds. But if AMD tries to produce more GPUs at the same time, that would be great.

I have inquired with Sapphire about the price of these huge GPUs, and I don't expect them to be cheap. Nor do we expect many of them to be manufactured, as they are clearly the result of extreme binning throughout.
