Alien: Isolation" DLC is again free!

Update: The last time Alien: Isolation was distributed on the Epic Store, it was just the base game. This time, the Last Survivor DLC is bundled. It lets you play as Ellen Ripley, again voiced by Sigourney Weaver, and relive the finale of the original film, in which you set the Nostromo's self-destruct mechanism to escape the doomed ship.

If you already own the Epic version of Alien: Isolation, you can get it again by visiting the Alien: Isolation page in the store. This time you can get the DLC for free.

Original Article Two more free games will be available on the Epic store this week.

First up is Alien: Isolation. This is an older (released in 2014) but excellent horror game set 15 years after the movie that led to the appearance of the xenomorphs. As Ellen's daughter, Amanda Ripley, you must escape the grim and steamy corridors of Sevastopol, a space station overrun by alien horrors. The game's world is a wonderfully faithful recreation of the film's retro-futuristic world, with "chunky keyboards, telephone handsets, distorted CRT monitors, and flashing colored lights," while the aliens stalking you are perfect predators.

"You can shoot it, but it will just jump at you angrily. You can also burn them, but that only scares them for a few seconds," we said in our 93% review." The magic of "Isolation" lies in the fact that you have to outwit the alien, not kill it. This turns what could have been just another FPS with xenomorphs into a thrilling and compelling romp with the most fearsome cats imaginable.

"Hand of Fate 2" is a completely different kind of game: a roguelike, dungeon-exploration, deck-building RPG in which you take on a series of challenging tasks given to you by a mysterious dealer. But it's not all about cards. Different quests are played in different genres, and "companion cards" offer a unique combat power and a new narrative layer: "a compelling story of heartbreak, betrayal, and redemption told through a series of companion-specific cards."

"Companions are woven into the stories of the other cards and frequently appear in BioWare-style cutscenes." These moments made the world feel more alive and interactive, despite the large amount of text."

Aliens: Isolation and Hand of Fate 2 is free until April 29. After that, it's a chance to get "$100 worth of add-ons" for the free-to-play strategy idler Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms.
