Apex Legends to Lower Octane and Remove Low Profile Next Season

Did you know that thanks to something called "Low Profile" in Apex Legends, smaller heroes will do 5% more damage per hit? [Respawn announced this change in a preview ahead of next month's new season; Fortified is granted to Legends with larger hitboxes (Gibraltar, Caustic) to offset their relative ease of being hit, but the developers feel that Low Profile is a small They feel that it is not suitable for offsetting a character's thin hitbox.

"The goal is to eventually remove it from all characters in the game, but first we have to figure out how to nerf Lifeline," Daniel Klein, lead designer at Respawn, who removed Low Profile from Pathfinder said on Reddit after removing Low Profile from Pathfinder. Next season, Respawn plans to remove it from the remaining affected heroes, Wraith, Lifeline, and Wattson.

Indeed, Lifeline is likely to receive a major rework in the near future. However, Respawn was more concerned about Octane in this preview. The team is happy with Octane, but is concerned that Octane has become too popular among players.

"We're cautiously touching Octane a little bit, because Octane is a lot of fun. But one pick every four in the [battle royale] now is a little too much."

Respawn thinks the problem is that his stemming ability is a no-brainer. In other words, the health penalty doesn't matter much, and players "just stem mindlessly. Next season, stem health hits are expected to be more severe, and more details will be announced in the regular update dev stream.

Apex Legends: Legacy will debut next Tuesday, May 4. Along with Valkyrie, a new hero with a jetpack on his back, Legacy will add an all-new 3vs3 game mode, Arena.
