Fortnite Crew to Offer Permanent Access to "Save the World" Next Month

Long since overtaken by its battle royale sibling, the original Fortnite: Save The World is being distributed as a May perk for the Fortnite Crew subscription service.

Epic unveiled the new skins and cosmetics that come with the May edition of Crew yesterday, showing off the edgy red skull bad boy Deimos and an array of themed weapons, loading screens, and goodies. Among this month's perks, however, is full access to the original base-building looting survival mode, Save The World.

Despite the overwhelming F2P success of Fortnite: Battle Royale (the subtitle has since been dropped), Save The World remains pay-to-play. This, and a somewhat confusing structure, has left Fortnite itself largely in obscurity, despite its blockbuster premieres and celebrity concerts. In

, it is a bit sad to see Save The World relegated to three months' worth of Spotify Premium or more of extra goodies under the latest Battle Pass. On the other hand, Save The World is a little cheaper than usual when purchased via Fortnite Crew, and you get Old Skullface as a ninja-class hero. And once you access it, it's yours, even if you leave the Crew.

The new bundle will be released on Friday, April 30. Assuming this offer is not repeated in the future, you'll have a whole month to get Save The World and embark on a strange journey into Fortnite that could have been better or worse.
