Resident Evil Re:Verse" Release Postponed

Resident Evil Re:Verse, a deathmatch multiplayer offshoot scheduled to launch alongside Resident Evil Village, will not be released next month as planned, according to an email sent to "Resident Evil Ambassadors" seen by Gamespot, but rather in the summer. The release will be.

The delay will not have a dramatic impact on the launch of Village: the 6vs6 multiplayer component seems to have little to do with Ethan Winters' latest, even though anyone who purchases Village can play it for free. It's more like Deathmatch All-Stars of the series: when it's finally released, you'll be able to play alongside Chris and Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, Ada Wong, and other stars of the series.

Capcom has yet to make a detailed announcement, but Re:Verse's website states that the game is "scheduled for a summer 2021 release." The postponement follows a series of betas that did not exactly generate a lot of enthusiasm. Josh West of sibling site Gamesradar wrote, "The Re:Verse open beta has revealed itself to be a game with little potential staying power.

Still, it's up to you to take it or leave it, as with Capcom's last multiplayer experiment, Resident Evil Resistance, which mimicked the asymmetrical format of Dead By Daylight. Resident Evil Village is still slated for release on May 7. We have asked Capcom for the official status of Re:Verse and will update if we hear back.
