Ducks can now swim in water, quietly introduced in the massive Stardew Valley 1.5 content update in December 2020. However, under the hundreds of game tweaks and changes that ConcernedApe included in the update, this change to ducks went relatively unnoticed, so much so that even today, some players are the first to know that our buoyant friends have this newfound ability.

And that's not all. It's not just ducks that can swim. Yes, even those little yellow fluffers can now immerse themselves in the refreshing waters of Stardew. Many players, myself included, have moved their cabins closer to the water to observe these birds in action.

Stardew fans have said that it is quite rare for the ducks to actually jump in or paddle, but I didn't see a problem. If you do have a problem, move the hut as close to the water source as possible and pet the ducks.
