Halo Infinite" supports cross-progression and ultra-wide monitors

"Halo Infinite," coming to PC later this year, will include many of the features that people often request, including cross-play with Xbox consoles, cross-progression, triple key bindings, and support for ultrawide and super ultrawide screens. The company also added, "We have a wide variety of advanced features that will be available for the new console. In addition, there will be "a wide variety of advanced graphics options," etc.

This is according to a new blog post from Microsoft, which is all about making PC gamers feel happy and part of the pack. Given Microsoft's platform-agnostic, service-oriented approach of late, it's no surprise that the company is focusing on the PC version; a separate post on Halo Waypoint offers some more details: the field of view will be 120, the competitive mode will sort players will be sorted by input type (if you are using a gamepad, you will never face a mouse and keyboard player), and there are no kernel-level anti-cheats.

"If you walk the (virtual) halls of Xbox today, you will see that for us "player" has come to mean anyone who plays different types of games on different devices. PC gaming is part of this, and "player first" must also apply to PCs. To that end, we have invested in the entire PC gaming ecosystem to ensure that the PC becomes an integral part of the way people play games.

The blog also promises to continue to offer PC titles like Age of Empires and Gears Tactics, which we believe are better suited for keyboard and mouse play." The company carefully avoids mentioning anything entirely new, "whether it be a new genre of an existing franchise, the next iteration of a classic favorite, or an evolution of a well-known PC brand.

"Infinite's PC-friendly features are especially good news for owners of ultrawide and super ultrawide monitors; Halo Infinite will be available later this year."
