IO Interactive reportedly developing new fantasy project for Xbox

Windows Central reports that Hitman developer IO Interactive is reportedly developing a new fantasy IP for the Xbox.

The media outlet reported that IO and Microsoft are in talks for a new IP, dubbed "Project Dragon." These reports were corroborated by Eurogamer, whose source explained that the project is "still in the early stages of development, but AAA in scope."

Project Dragon is reportedly a connected-world RPG, with various job postings for multiplayer network programmers; Eurogamer's source said the game will take place in a "medieval-style world" and feature dragons.

The game will take place in a "medieval-style world.

As the best-performing game in the series, "Hitman 3" has a strong position in IO. The studio has already announced that it will further develop its espionage expertise with "Project 007," and recently opened a new studio in Barcelona to assist in development In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, CEO Hakan Abrak said that the new office is already contributing to the development of new IPs, he suggested.

"I won't go into too much detail, but we have a third universe that we are actively working on. It's something our core, veteran staff has been dreaming about for some time."

Of course, these have not been officially confirmed or announced by IO Interactive, and these rumors may be nothing more than rumors. But even if this appears to be a significant departure from the studio's expertise, I would pay good money to see Agent 47 in chainmail and feathering dragons.
