"Titanfall 2" is a truly great FPS, and when it was released in 2016, it was a huge flop for a variety of reasons (though really only one). However, its release on Steam last year has seen a remarkable resurgence in attention, and thanks to the recent addition of Titanfall 2 content to Apex Legends, it's getting an even bigger boost.

If you haven't played it yet, you can play it for free now: Titanfall 2 is available for free on Steam until May 3 at 10 a.m. ET. Just hit the "Play Game" button, wait for the 30 GB download to complete, and start playing immediately! You can start playing right away. Multiplayer is also available, but I personally recommend joining the campaign.

Being the eternal optimist that I am, I feel a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, all of this vibrancy and interest will finally lead us to the long-awaited new Titanfall. In the meantime, we have new rivals in the form of Apex, set in the same universe, and Valkyrie, a do-it-yourself Titan pilot who will join the action in Season 9, which begins on May 4. It's not quite the same as wall-running or getting hit by a BT-7274 fastball, but it's pretty good in its own way.
