Klipsch's ProMedia 2.1 speaker is a steal at $90

One of my favorite computer speakers back in the day, before gaming headsets became mainstream, was Klipsch's ProMedia 2.1. It boomed with loud sound and currently sells for $89.88 on Amazon.

The discounted price is down from $139.99, so technically that's a savings of just over $50. According to price-tracking site CamelCamelCamel, it also sold for $149.99 earlier this year, but the actual price is a bit lower.

Anyway, getting these speakers for just under $90 is a bargain; they are THX certified and, from what I recall, sound great for a compact computer speaker set. [The set consists of a two-way satellite speaker with a 3-inch midrange driver and a 6.5-inch side-firing ported subwoofer. Both the main volume and subwoofer volume dials are built into the left satellite.

Klipsch rates the peak power at 260 watts, which delivers up to 110 decibels of audio. No distortion when the volume is turned up, exactly as loud as I remember it being.

One thing to note is that these speakers do not have an on/off button, so they must be left on all the time or unplugged when not in use. This is a bit annoying, but if you don't mind it, this speaker is definitely worth considering.
