Destiny 2 Goes Tron in 'Splicer Season'

Destiny 2 stepped into the abstract and geometric colorscape with last year's Prophecy dungeon. And now, in the Vex-themed "Season of the Splicer," which will be released next Tuesday, Bungie is going full-on tronation with a series of simulations that the Guardians are tasked with defeating.

As Ikola explains in the new season's trailer, Vex has cast the city into eternal darkness. After years of hiding in side quests, lore, and the "Zero Hour" secret mission scene where he shows up, takes out one Dreg, and then swoops in at the end after all your hard work, he finally gets a starring role.

Also! Ikola is speaking for the first time since "Season of Immortality" over a year ago.

Currently revealed activities for this season are the weekly pinnacle mission "Expanzi," in which the Guardians infiltrate the Vex network, and a new six-player activity called "Override." In this mission, they hack the Vex network.

The Season of the Splicer teaser page also introduces 30 new and reintroduced Legendary weapons and transmog. There will also be a trio of exotic boots, including the Warlock Exotic, which adds another usefulness to rifts by doubling their support capabilities with a lumina-like effect.

As for the season pass exotic Cryosthesia 77k, it is Destiny 2's second Stasis elemental weapon, and hopefully it will do better than the first, the "Salvation Grasp," in Beyond Light's fetch quest. I don't feel like I used it at all, except that I had to shoot the pyramid.

A little after the season starts, Destiny 1's Vault of Glass raid will be added on May 22. This raid, more than all of the above, is supposed to bring the Guardian back into the game once played.
