FIFA 21" makes stand-alone cosmetics available for purchase for the first time.

For the first time, EA is allowing FIFA 21 players to purchase cosmetics without having to purchase a loot box.

The items were added at the beginning of May and include tifos, stadium themes, and both home and away kits, which can be purchased individually or in bundles. The bundle is 700 FIFA points in total, or about $7/£6. The single items are 150 FIFA points for the tifo, 200 for the stadium theme, and 300 for each kit (thanks, Eurogamer).

Not a bad deal for a handful of cosmetics if you're willing to shell out real money, but if you're going to buy these with in-game FUT coins, you might want to start saving: 11,500 FUT coins for the tifo, 15,000 for the stadium theme, 25,000 for the kit! . Bundling brings it down to 60,000 coins, but it still seems a bit high.

Still, the blow is softened a bit since these are just cosmetics; it's no surprise that EA is still trying to get people to spend real money, and at least with this standalone cosmetic, you have a say in what items you pay to get.

This new item follows a rough couple of weeks for EA and FIFA, with leaked internal documents seemingly focused on enticing players to buy loot boxes, the place of loot boxes in a game like FIFA, and the "gamble" that players can make with them, controversy over the discomfort of its proximity to gambling.

FIFA 21 will appear on EA Play and Xbox Game Pass for PC on May 6.
