Apex Legends servers recovering after Season 9 player surge

Update: A few hours after the Apex Legends servers went down, some players are reporting being able to sign in and play matches. However, there may still be problems unlocking new Legends and viewing cosmetics. The entire "Legends" tab remains grayed out, as does the Marketplace section.

Respawn reports that these services are starting to come back online as well.

Original post If you're having trouble getting through the main menu to try all the cool items in Apex Legends Season 9, you're not alone. Servers are currently down all over the place, but Respawn says they are working on it.

"We are currently working on some service issues due to high demand on @playapex." We are working on it and will get players into the game as soon as possible!"

No ETA yet on when the servers will be back up, but hopefully "as soon as possible" is a matter of minutes, not hours. However, I do hope that "as soon as possible" is a matter of minutes, not hours.

When I finally tried to enter, the game finally showed a cutscene from Season 9 Legacy and immediately told me "Server not found." Spooky way to put it, EA.

This is not a problem limited to large battle royale games. Recently, Call of Duty: Warzone was plagued by clogged servers during a scheduled nuclear weapons event, preventing people from even joining for the first 90 minutes.
