Dead Island 2 and Saints Row games will launch as Epic Games Store exclusives, according to an October 2019 Epic Games Store "performance and strategy review" document released in the course of the Epic v. Apple trial. This is the same document that revealed Epic is spending at least $1 billion on storefront launch exclusives.

What is critically important is that this document is for late 2019. First, the exclusive launch of Saints Row is likely already in the works: Saints Row 3: Remastered launched on the Epic Games Store last May 22 and will launch on Steam on May 22 this year; Saints Row 5 is coming, and we all know it. In 2019, Klemens Kundratitz, CEO of Koch Media, confirmed "Saints Row 5" and promised to "talk about it next year" ( (That didn't happen, but maybe we can blame Covid-19).

Far less ambiguous is "Dead Island 2," which the document clearly states is an Epic Games Store exclusive; the project, announced in 2014, has bounced between several studios, including Techland, Yager, and Sumo Digital, At this time it is still officially in development at Dambuster Studios.

Kundratitz also confirmed in the same 2019 interview that "Dead Island 2" was still in the works, but both the publisher and the studio remained silent about the project throughout 2020. We did get a long video of an early version of the game when it was still under Yager's control. In any case, if it is released, it will be an exclusive title for Epic.
