Sequel to 1992 cult cinematic platformer Flashback to be produced

Released in 1992, "Flashback" was a cinematic platformer that was like a combination of "Prince of Persia" and "Another World." With its fluid rotoscopic animation and colorful sci-fi backgrounds, it was a bit of a cult classic in the 90s, and still is today. The film was re-released by Microids in 2018, and the studio is now set to produce a sequel.

Not only that, but the director of the original game, Paul Cuise, is on board the project, albeit in a directorial capacity. The same scientist will be the protagonist, but nothing else is known about the project at this time.

If you think you've heard about Flashback since 1992, you're right: Ubisoft released a poorly received remake for Xbox Live Arcade in 2013, which was also supervised by Cuycet. Not only that, but Flashback already has a sequel: Fade to Black, which Cuisset and co. released in 1995. This was quite well received, but the early 3D format with its fixed point of view will probably be a hard sell in 2021.

In a statement provided, Cuisset said, "Developing a sequel to 'Flashback' is an idea I have had for a very long time. I can't wait for players to discover the new adventures of Conrad B. Hart, a character created almost 30 years ago, and with Microids, I hope to please fans of the original title while at the same time providing fun for players who are not fans of futuristic games. Microids".

To jog your memory, here's how the original "Flashback" looked on the Amiga, and Tom Senior's thoughts on revisiting this game last year.
