Create your own Mass Effect: Make the cover of the Legendary Edition with this cool new art tool!

BioWare is pulling out all the stops for Mass Effect: Legendary Edition Better gameplay, sexier companions, and a really good-looking photo mode, among other things. Today, the company announced a "bonus content download" package that includes a gorgeous soundtrack, art book, and digital comic, as well as an online tool that allows fans to create their own customized cover art.

This art tool is really simple and clever. First, choose your morality (Paragon, Renegade, or Neutral), then choose two teammates of your choice. The choices are limited, but increase as you continue with "Trusted Companions," "Cavalry," and "Backup." Then choose one of five "Mass Effect" locations and sit back and wait for the machine to mash it all up. You can then download your masterpiece as 4K wallpaper, box art (with back page), or in "social share" format.

And here's a more renegade take, with a different supporting cast:

It's fun to mess around and many people are sharing and comparing their work on Twitter with the #MyShepard hashtag. I'm a little disappointed that I can't put together a completely customized team. I'd gladly put Zayed at the top of the list and make no apologies for it, but given the ease of use and functionality, I'd say the placement restrictions are a fair trade.

For me, however, the bonus downloads are where it really comes into their own: an 88-track soundtrack containing all the music from the MassEffect trilogy, digital art books for MassEffect 2 and MassEffect 3, DarkHorse digital Two comics, and a high-resolution "digital lithograph" of the Normandy are included.

It's a great package, and the soundtrack in particular is outstanding across three games and at least eight composers, and best of all, you don't have to commit to buying "Mass Effect: Legendary Edition": and above all, if you If you don't want to play it again, don't bother buying it: just get this software and you're good to go. 1.7 GB is pretty heavy, and you can listen to the whole thing on YouTube.

My only regret is that there is no M4 Part II, which may be the greatest video game credit song of all time. You're welcome! Incidentally, when we contacted BioWare about this, a representative told us that the song is not on the soundtrack, but is present in the game.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will be released on May 14.
