The next "Fable" will use the "Forza" engine.

The next "Fable" will use the same engine as "Forza Horizon" and "Forza Motorsport". This confirmation comes via a new job posting from Microsoft, where a software engineer from Turn 10 Studios will be responsible for adding new features such as ray tracing to the ForzaTech engine.Turn 10 Studios is the "Forza" series' motorsports division.

Not surprising, but interesting nonetheless: ForzaTech has so far been used only for racing games, and while the open world of the "Horizon" games is gorgeous, adapting the engine to an action RPG would probably take some work. The job listing states, "Not only will we be adding new features like ray tracing to support the next generation of consoles, but we will also be enhancing our toolset to support Fable, an open world action RPG."

The listing also states that the successful applicant will "have a significant impact on three AAA titles in development"; no one needs confirmation that there will be a new Forza Horizon, but here it is anyway (Forza Motorsport 8 has already been confirmed).

The ad also seems to confirm another thing we already suspected: Fable 4 is still a long way off; Fable 4 was unveiled in July 2020 with a detail-oriented CG trailer, but since then Microsoft and Playground Studios never opened their mouths about it.
