Protect Destiny 2's Ugly Fallen Babies

Despite appearing only briefly in the new Season of the Splicer trailer, the Destiny community has rallied around a trio of slimy alien babes.

"Destiny 2" has gradually attracted a fascination with the Fallen, a civilization of four-armed, four-eyed insect aliens who, until recently, were prey to magical space wizards. In last year's expansion, you can fight alongside one of them in a sort of civil war against the Fallen, and in the game's next season, you will join another to fight off the Vex invasion.

But forget all that, because the real stars of Destiny's next season will be the babies who will blink like three snarling burritos in the arms of a Fallen warrior. Naturally, Destiny players are already clamoring to see more.

One burning question facing the community is whether to call these Elixni babies "Dregret, Smolixni, or Smolen." Naturally, people are eager for Bungie to release a baby Fallen plush, but one fan preempted these requests by crocheting one themselves within a day of its release.

As discovered by Polygon, Bungie actually previewed Baby Fallen's appearance over a year ago, and jumped over Baby Yoda's cultural hype by sharing fan soup-sipping crossover art.

"Splicer Season" introduces a new six-player matchmaking activity called "Override," the return of the story's main protagonist, Ikola Ray, and Destiny's confusing and controversial transmog system. The fan-anticipated Vault of Glass raid will also return later this month with several notable changes.

But what's really exciting is the anticipation of seeing more of these delightful bubs; if Destiny is a game of orbs, these may be the cutest orbs we've seen yet.
