Intel's discrete DG2 graphics cards are "right around the corner".

Intel's Xe HPG DG2 discrete graphics card may be coming sooner than we think, according to a tweet from Intel's Game Developer Relations engineer Pete Brubaker, the chip giant is looking for a Senior Game Developer Relations Engineer to support DG2, and in his tweet, Brubaker "DG2 is right around the corner!" He mentions.

Intel has been talking about a release date for discrete graphics cards, from the official Intel Graphics account, Xe HPG (High-Performance Gaming) can handle ray tracing, and we could see it in 2021! The company has not promised much, except for another tweet that said. How "imminent" is still up for debate, but my guess would be fall 2021 at the earliest.

We would absolutely love to see another manufacturer emerge in the gaming graphics card space to compete with AMD and Nvidia, but we are well aware that this will not be easy. This is also not the first time that Intel has attempted such an endeavor, with the ill-fated Larabee concept being the most recent in memory.

Hopefully, Intel has learned a lot from that experience and will take precautions this time around.

At the same time, now seems like the perfect time to introduce a new gaming GPU to a market that is desperate for hardware; as long as DG2 is even vaguely competitive, it should find an eager market waiting for it. It will be a challenge for Intel to make both a top-class gaming CPU and GPU, but let's hope they are looking at the long term, rather than simply trying to make a quick buck.

The job description itself lacks any appealing details other than that graphics programming experience is preferred; Intel claims to already have a proper game developer support team, but Brubaker's first tweet related to DG2 indicates that he wants to expand into the brave new world of Intel's discrete graphics cards.
