Titanfall 2's speedrunners have regained the fastest time on the game's infamous gauntlet.

The Gauntlet, a speedrunner's dream built into Titanfall 2's tutorial levels, is such a notoriously fierce gauntlet that Respawn incorporated it into the backstory of Apex Legends' hero Octane. But until recently, it looked as if no one could beat speedrunner Cash Mayo's 11.7 seconds.

And last week, Mayo's crown was decisively taken by Whatevershoe, who clocked 11.2 seconds. Not to be outdone, Mayo immediately set about regaining his title. This weekend, he recorded 11.1 seconds, which he shared with Respawn's Director of Communications, Ryan K. Rigney.

Timing was great, too, thanks in part to the new Titan-heavy season of Apex Legends, which saw a tremendous surge in players; Apex itself has also been overwhelmed by player numbers, with Season 9's battle royale a record-breaking success on Steam.

Now it remains to be seen if Mayo's latest record will last as long as the previous one. But if anyone else manages to break 11 seconds, whether after throwing a grenade at his feet to speed up the process, he'll be right on his heels.
