Number of Concurrent Users for PC Version of "Resident Evil: The Village" Surpasses 100,000, Setting a New Series Record

The PC launch of "Resident Evil 7: Resident Evil Village" was so successful that the game surpassed 100,000 concurrent players at launch, setting a new series record.

According to SteamDB, the game had 101,726 concurrent players on launch day, May 7. This was the largest number of concurrent players for the PC version of the "Resident Evil" series to date, while the second place game, "Resident Evil 2 Remake," had 74,227 concurrent players. Other PC versions of the series, such as "Resident Evil 3 Remake" peaked at 60,293, while "Resident Evil 7" had 20,449.

Resident Evil Village is also getting a big boost on Twitch. On Friday, there were 658,703 viewers across the platform, with a peak of 275,569 viewers in the last 24 hours as of this writing.

According to SteamDB, Village is currently in the top 15 most played games, losing out to such surprising games as Rust, Rainbow Six Siege, and Grand Theft Auto 5.

The reason Village is doing so well is that the likes of Lady Dimitrescu are proving that we've been in a pandemic for a little too long. Tall vampire women aside, it's a genuinely terrifying experience. Andy gave it an 85 in his review, calling it "the scariest biohazard ever."
