Last week, rumors circulated that Battlefield 6, or whatever the name of the next Battlefield game will be called, would be officially announced on May 6. Alas, today is May 10, and there is no sign of an announcement. And today, Electronic Arts is hinting quite strongly that we won't actually see this game until June.

"Words that rhyme with Soon," they tweeted. June. Boom."

This is a very clear sign that the next Battlefield will finally be announced within the next month. My first thought was that a June announcement might be a little later than expected, since EA had said in February that it would be officially announced in the spring. However, as usual, a quick Google search revealed that the end of spring is June 20.

More importantly, June is also the month of E3, the digital event of 2021, which runs from June 12-15; the publisher press event at E3 is traditionally where such big announcements are made.

Since it's only one cryptic tweet, we naturally can't give it much credence, but it's also worth noting that the words "coming soon" are prominent in the tweet pinned to the Battlefield account: "Get ready for our reveal soon™." (Get ready for our reveal soon™.)
