Sega wants Atlus games released "on multiple platforms"
[This is good news for those who like the "Tales of" series, "Disgaea" and "Yakuza" and don't want to buy a console. Most notably, there is still no "Persona 5" on PC ("Strikers" is available, as is a remaster of "SMT3 Nocturne"), but Atlus, a subsidiary of Sega, seems keen to ensure that its upcoming games are released everywhere.

In an interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu (translated by Persona Central), Sega's chief strategy officer, Shuji Utsumi, cited Atlus as a studio that could expand in this direction. In response to a question about the future of Persona, he stated that "simultaneous releases on multiple platforms is expedient for our titles"

.

"Of course, we will make adjustments for each title, but we will also be aware of the global expansion of Atlus titles."

Atlas titles are usually released in the West much later than the Japanese versions. This is because it takes time to localize a vast title with a lot of text and dialogue. However, the importance of multi-platform releases is proven by the recent success of Yakuza, according to Utsumi: Like a Dragon, which was released simultaneously on PS4, Xbox, and Steam in the US and Europe. After years of dominating Sony, Sega now considers "Yakuza" a multiplatform series (sadly, they did not take the same approach with "Judgment").

The future looks bright for Atlus' PC port: "Catherine Classic" will be released on Steam in 2019, while "Persona 4 Golden" was released last year. The latter sold 500,000 copies in less than a month, encouraging Sega's upper management.
