General
EA's dodgeball shooter "Knockout City" free for 10 days at launch.

"Knockout City" is a 3-on-3 multiplayer shooter where instead of shooting guns, you throw balls at your enemies. It looks pretty interesting, and Tyler has posted detailed impressions, but launching a new multiplayer-focused title in 2021 seems like a roll of the dice in that no one cares (remember Rocket Arena?). But releasing a new multiplayer-focused title in 2021 feels like a roll of the dice in that no one might care (remember Rocket Arena?).

Dubbed Block Party, the event is described as a "festival-style event" that will offer the entire game for 10 days, with no cap on play time or awards earned, and all maps and playlists will be open. during the Block Party event to purchase a game, you will receive a variety of Epic costumes, hairstyles, glasses, gliders, intro poses, KO effects, 500 Holobux, and much more. These stack with the awards you have already earned and the items that come with the Deluxe Edition. [For example, on May 22, Twitch streamers will team up with viewers to "achieve in-game goals and unlock prizes for viewers," and Velen Studios developers will also participate in Discord hangouts and take part in matches. The game's first season kicks off on May 25 and will introduce new maps, playlists, and league play.

Basically, if you've played any of the colorful and lively multiplayer games in the past five years, you probably know what's on offer. In any case, 10 days is plenty of time to decide if you like Knockout City. We'll find out in the coming weeks whether it takes root. The game will launch on May 21 at 8 a.m. ET/5 a.m. PST/1 p.m. EST/10 p.m. EST.
