Western Digital has some of the best SSDs, especially in the lower price range. Their WD Blue SN550 is a great upgrade over regular M.2 and SATA drives and is currently available at Newegg for just $55. This is only $5 off the regular price, but even at $60 it was already a bargain.

This drive is an NVMe SSD in the M.2 2280 form factor and has a nominal sequential read speed of up to 2,600 Mb/s. Actual benchmarks from Tom's Guide show sequential read speeds closer to 2,500 Mb/s and write sequential read speed is close to 2,500 Mb/sec and write speed is around 1,800 Mb/sec. This is slower than most high-end NVMe drives such as the Samsung 980, but still considerably faster than SATA-based SSDs and rotating hard drives.

The lack of a DRAM cache makes this WD Blue SN550 drive ideal as a secondary drive for gaming and other files. Western Digital also offers a 5-year warranty on this drive.
