FIFA 21 Adds Teenage Soccer Player Murdered 15 Years Later

In a touching tribute, EA has added Queens Park Rangers hopeful Kiyan Prince to its FIFA 21 roster. Kiyan signed as a youth player for QPR in 2004, and the club planned to sign him as a professional.

As a tribute to keep the memory of Prince, who would have turned 30 in November 2020, he can now play for QPR at FIFA 21 as a 30-year-old player. Freelance illustrator Chris Scarfe, who designed Prince's model, said in a video for the BBC, "I'm confident, but not until I get final approval from the people who really matter. His playing style and skills are based on evaluations by former peers and coaches.

Following Prince's murder, the Crime Reduction Act of 2006 was passed, raising the age to purchase a knife from 16 to 18. His father, Dr. Mark Prince OBE, founded the Kiyan Prince Foundation in 2007, a nonprofit organization that fights knife crime and other youth violence. Those who loved Kyan Prince and would have been his fans will never meet this man who set an example and would have impacted the lives of millions of people."

Furthermore, Les Ferdinand, QPR's director of football, believes that "if even one person who plays for FIFA sees this and puts the knife down, that is the important legacy we want." EA said it would donate to KPF for licensing the portrait rights of Kyan Prince.

Kyan Prince is currently available in FIFA 21's Kickoff and Career modes, and custom vanity items are available for completing in-game challenges.
