General
Microsoft and Bethesda will reportedly hold a joint summer conference in June.

What we call the E3 season is rapidly approaching, with Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest kicking off on June 10, followed by the online-only E3 from June 12-15, and the Ubisoft Forward, EA Play Live, and Of course, there will also be individual events such as the PC Gaming Show and Future Games Show.

Microsoft and Bethesda will also return this year with online presentations, and according to a report by Le Figaro (via VGC), they will be holding joint events this year. Specific details have not been revealed, but according to Matt Booty, head of Microsoft Studios (i.e., someone who knows a lot about these things), it will take place in a few weeks and will be part of the Big Summer o' Games extravaganza.

A shared showcase makes sense. For the record, Microsoft now owns Bethesda, and while Bethesda has historically done its own thing (and certainly remains large enough to continue to do so), it's the big jewel in Xbox's crown. a Bethesda showcase at a larger Xbox event. Involving it is a great opportunity to make a statement, especially if, as many are hoping, it includes a preview of Starfield's appearance and perhaps release date.

Starfield is expected to be Bethesda's next big game, and will be the studio's first original RPG in 25 years.

Microsoft and Bethesda were contacted to confirm plans for a joint show. You can keep track of all the online events taking place this summer with our handy E3 2021 schedule.
